Landing Page Testing – Insource or Outsource?

October 18, 2008

The decision to run your landing page program in-house or to outsource it is a complex one. I recently wrote a two-part column on Search Engine Watch about this topic.

Landing Page Optimization: Guessing vs. Testing

October 18, 2008

I am often asked if there are any “silver bullets” for landing page testing – ideas that have a positive impact on conversion regardless of the setting in which they are used. The unfortunate answer is no.

But it gets even worse. The educated guesses of conversion improvement gurus are are often wrong and will actually make things worse.

I talk about the need for testing versus guessing in my recent column on Search Engine Watch.

Landing Page Testing Workshop – Boston November 6th, 2008

October 18, 2008

I love Boston. Having just been there earlier this summer to lead a solo session at the Affiliate Summit, I get a chance to return again soon.

Search Engine Strategies is holding a training day on November 6th at the Hilton Boston Back Bay. My morning workshop is one of two parallel tracks, and will be followed by two more workshops in the afternoon.

For those of you who will miss it on October 24th at eMetrics in Washington D.C., this is an opportunity to get the half-day training on Landing Page Testing Hands On: Developing Your Action Plan.

Hope to see you in Boston!

eMetrics Washington D.C. – October 20-24th, 2008

October 18, 2008

Fall in D.C. is a very nice time – made even more so by the presence of the eMetrics Summit. This week-long confab brings together the best and brightest in the web analytics arena. If you think online marketing should be accountable and measurable, this is the place to learn all of the related best practices.

I will be on the Multivariate Testing Panel moderated by Google’s Jon Diorio with Steve Daigneault from Amnesty International, Bryan Eisenberg from FutureNow Inc., and Aaron Graham from McAfee on Wednesday October 22 from 3:25 to 4:15.

I will also be having a book signing and giveaway featuring my Landing Page Optimization book courtesy of Google Website Optimizer. Line up early – it’s first-come first-served until the books run out.

On Friday October 24th I will also be teaching a half-day workshop on Landing Page Testing Hands On: Developing Your Action Plan. The same workshop will also be repeated at the SES Training day in Boston on November 6th.

Hope to see you in D.C.!

Online Landing Page Testing Workshop – October 28th 12noon EDT

October 14, 2008

Search Engine Strategies and Market Motive are teaming up for a new online workshop series. The next workshop will be an action-packed one on “Landing Page Testing for Higher Profits” hosted by SiteTuners.com CEO and author of Amazon’s e-commerce bestseller “Landing Page Optimization: The Definitive Guide to Testing and Tuning for Conversions” Tim Ash (yes me).

This will be an interactive session with audience participation.

Data and time 12noon-2pm EDT on Tuesday October 28th (9am-11am PDT).

The price is only $395 (cheaper than a plane ticket to hear me speak at a conference).

If you would like additional information (including a short video), please visit the event page.

Short summary:

Are you turning away your website visitors? Instead of guessing at your website visitor’s needs, you can ask them what they prefer. Landing page testing allows your visitors to design a more satisfying experience for themselves, and put more money in your pocket. Know what works — no hand-waving or techie talk in this session.

Learn how to quickly diagnose potential conversion problems, test, and uncover better performing versions of your landing page.
